10 Automotive Video Statistics you Should Know!

Video as part of the sales and aftersales process is reaching record levels. Whether you are an established user, just starting out or thinking about implementing video into your dealership here are a few statistics to help you on your journey.

We’ve seen video production in automotive retailing continuing to reach record levels, with more than 12 million CitNOWs created during 2021, up 120% over the past five years. Video watch rates have remained consistent over the past decade, at around 73%. To put into context, this amounts to 30.5 million views of CitNOW videos in 2021 with 25% more videos watched in 2021 compared to 2020.

Customers love your videos. The average customer rated video score for 2021 was 4.8 out of 5, a number which has been consistent for the past three years. 8% of all videos made are rated – this is over 745k ratings in a year. Looking at individual app usage we’ve seen a 66% increase in CitNOW Workshop video creation in the last four years.

CitNOW Sales is not far behind in that with a 52% increase in usage.

What does all this tell us?

Video as part of the automotive customer journey is on the rise. More videos are being created and customers are loving it. A recent CitNOW Group report showed that 84% of car buyers found video to be a valuable part of their experience and 70% of car buyers value the transparency that video provides in the workshop. The rate of digital transformation in the industry has accelerated in recent months, and video to bridge the online to offline customer experience is most definitely growing.
