CitNOW supporting Sytner Group’s Elite Technician Challenge

We will be supporting Sytner Group’s Elite Technician Challenge next month!

  • We are going to be headline sponsor of the Sytner Elite Technician Challenge
  • Video pioneer supports Sytner’s search for the Elite Technician of the Year 2019
  • Challenge will use CitNOW as video continues to grow in the workshop
  • Winners will be chosen at competitive finale on 13th March 2019

We will be supporting Sytner’s Elite Technician Challenge in 2019, as the dealer group puts to test the best and brightest in the automotive industry. Alongside Pirelli and Shell, the video pioneer is one of the headline sponsors of the Elite Technician Challenge, an annual competition inviting hundreds of Sytner technicians to test their skills around the workshop.

The challenge has already seen over 500 applicants from 12 prestigious brands, narrowed down to 36 exceptional finalists including the first female technician to reach the final. Also for 2019 there has been an ‘Apprentice’ category added which aims to recognise the stars of the future.

Our involvement in the hard-fought competition extends beyond the sponsorship, and will play an integral part at the Finalist challenge on March 13th in Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth.

With the growth of video seeing our platform become a crucial part of day-to-day life in the workshop, presentation skills are now among the most important for modern technicians.

Reflecting this, finalists will not only be asked to identify a set of pre-programmed faults on a vehicle to demonstrate their mechanical knowledge, but will then need to record a video for the customer.

Melvin Rogers, Director of Human Resources at Sytner Group commented: “Our skilled technicians are a key factor in our future success and initiatives like this not only recognise our top performers but also really sets us apart from our competitors”. “To excel in the modern workshop, our staff combine technical expertise with strong communication skills. It’s great to have CitNOW involved in this initiative, because its video platform goes a long way to developing and deploying that skillset.”

Ollie Parsons, Head of Sales and Client Services at CitNOW, commented: “Now in its third year, the Sytner Elite Technician Challenge is one of the best showcases of the growing talent in the workshop sector, and it’s crucial that we support and celebrate it.”

It’s great to see video become a real marker of expertise. More and more frequently, technicians are being asked to build up a broader set of skills beyond pure mechanical knowledge. As video continues to establish itself in the workshop, presentation skills are going to be part and parcel of that growing skillset.
