European Accountant

Key Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Management
  • Maintaining local books ensuring Group accounting policies are adopted and adhered to
  • Processing sales and purchase invoices, preparing bank reconciliation and calculating all monthly journals such as accruals, prepayments and depreciation
  • Delivering the monthly Board Pack on a timely basis and adding commentary on variances and key points in the month
  • Calculating monthly payroll for employees (both full and part time) including bonus calculations, holidays and overtime etc
  • Managing Payment runs of purchase invoices and payroll and ensuring that payments are made on time and to terms
  • Monitoring of debtor balances and ensuring overdue balances are chased up effectively and that Stripe payments are correctly set up and processed
  • Budgeting and cash flow forecasting to ensure liabilities are all met
  • Calculating VAT, and liaising with respective tax authorities to ensure all sales, corporation and payroll taxes are correct and paid
  • Preparing annual statutory accounts and assisting with wider Group audit
  • Ad hoc tasks to support the local team and wider Finance team
Knowledge & Skills
  • A confident communicator in both Dutch and English
  • An accounting qualification or qualified by experience
  • Experience of Dutch payroll, sales and corporation taxes
  • Experience in preparation of Dutch financial statements
  • Have worked in a management accountant role with a month end focus in preparing and commentating on a monthly Board Pack
  • Technical proficiency with Excel
  • Knowledge of Stripe, Twinfield and Nmbrs preferable but not essential
  • Skilled in organising tasks and establishing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic, a self-starter with a proactive approach
  • Communication skills: writes clearly and concisely, speaks effectively and listens attentively
  • Interpersonal skills: enthusiastic with a can-do attitude, works well with others, supportive, motivates and cooperates with others
  • Organisational skills: punctual and attentive, high levels of attention to detail.
  • Problem Analysis skills: ability to understand the main problem, identify the potential causes and propose solutions
  • Teamwork skills: ability to participate and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the information systems throughout the organisation
