Hidden surprises: The 10 features customers love most

News & Events

Buying a used car can come with plenty of hidden surprises – and not just those scratches on the bumper you might have missed. Often there are actually plenty of bonus features that you might never even have known about.

From Nissan’s curry hook to Honda’s magic seats, we put the most popular items down to a vote with 2,000 motorists to find out which features have really stuck out in the minds of the British public.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI ‘golf ball’ gear knob topped the poll with other much-loved gadgets including ŠKODA’s integrated umbrella, the Beetle’s dashboard vase, and Corsa’s integrated bike rack also appearing.

Available on used cars costing less than £10,000, the features can be a welcome surprise when a consumer buys the car on the used market.

Finding out what details customers love about a car can be a real boon to retailers. Why not show off all of the best or most surprising features of a car to a prospective buyer?

Whether it’s a demo of the DS Integrated Perfume Dispenser or showing off a MINI’s Ambient Lighting, delighting a customer with hidden gizmos can help them establish an emotional connection with a vehicle, and ultimately lead to a sale.

Our research further highlighted the importance of high quality marketing assets in demonstrating the details of a car, with a whopping 88% of Brits saying they’d ignore an online car advert if it didn’t have images or a video.

Video tours were also singled out as key, with 50% of respondents saying a full video tour was either “important” or “essential” when buying. That’s where CitNOW can help.
